Capewell Parachute Release. USED, but Excellent
shape...NOT FOR FLIGHT. These release the parachute
shroud from the parachute harness worn by the pilot
or airman. Designed around WW2, these have 1970s
dates and were made by The Capewell Manufacturing
Co. You pull down the cover, then see a wire loop.
Pull the loop and the release lets the parachute
shroud blow down wind of the airman on the ground.
In landing in water, many airman were drowned when
the parachute fell on them, got soaked with water
and pulled them under. This release allowed the
shroud to drift down wind of the airman in the
water...USED..but excellent shape..
