Description:1918 Gillette U.S.Army Khaki Razor Set
ALL MY ITEMS
ARE SOLD FOR BEST OFFER! RICHARDS RAZORS; MAKE ME AN OFFER I CAN'T REFUSE!You are looking at a 1918 Gillette U.S. Army Khaki Razor Set. Included are the razor, bladeholder and Canvas Case. The razor is in overall very good condition. The finish is clean but there isa small crack in handle. The canvas case is in excellent condition. There are no tears or stains, really nice. The snap closure is in tact and functions. SERIEL NUMBER F902407. Yes it was made for WWI. It was not sold to the US government. But that doesn'tmean it wasn't in the war. Parents and friends could have bought them as gifts for soldiers orused them themselves. Most of the sets bought by the government had J serial numbers and both thecase and the razor were marked Property U.S. Army. I have a Khaki Set identical to this and itshaves wonderful. My everday Gillette is an Old Style just a few years newer than that one.Best shave on the planet. There were at least two Gillette Khaki sets made/sold to the U.S. Government from 1918-1920. There was a Gillette Military set that was a khaki-covered hard case that snapped. It was basicallya Traveller set (razor, two blade holders, a soap tube, and a brush tube) covered in khaki. The Gillette Service Sets (in the metal cases) were sold through retailers (at least throughSears, Roebuck) and were also from around 1918. There are at least three versions of this for theU.S. and one Canadian version. There's also one lithographed tin for the U.S.This is a civil set. It says: "Made in USA" on the bottom blade plate. This canvas set says"PROPERTY OF THE US ARMY.The sets for soldiers says: "Property US Army" on the bottom blade plate. 1918 SERIEL NUMBER E449208-J7344 Plus F/G/H (no I) J Series all U.S. military 1023.5 million razors produced for US forces in WWI35 million blades produced for US forces in WWIRICHARDS RAZORS; MAKE ME AN OFFER I CAN'T REFUSE!
