Original 1997 Rose Bowl ticket stub from one of the
most exciting Rose Bowl finishes in history, as the
undefeated Arizona State Sun Devils led by Jake (The
Snake) Plummer and Pat Tillman had a shot at a
National Championship if they could defeat the 10-1
Ohio State Buckeyes. Plummer led the Sun Devils to
what appeared to be the winning score with an 11
yard touchdown scramble on third and goal with just
over a minute left to go up 17-14. But Buckeyes
quarterback Joe Germaine hit David Boston with the
go ahead touchdown with 19 seconds left. ASU blocked
the extra point and Plummer almost got the Sun
Devils within field goal range, but time ran out.
